The Launch

Powered Paragliding is a brand-newadventure sport that is sure to captivate every tourist’s interest this season! Launched in Mandrem during the first week of November this year, Powered Paragliding is the outcome of an awesome tie-up between ‘Flying Safari (Pune -based outfit) and GTDC (Goa Tourism Development Corporation).
This modern and exciting sport was inaugurated by Goa’s chief minister – Mr. Laxmikant Parsekar, with GTDC officials assuring the new sport will be introduced to other beaches in a periodic manner in an attempt to make sure more tourists and local get to experience the sheer joy and thrill of soaring over Goan beaches like a tropical bird.
Powered Paragliders are said to be the safest flying machines out there. They have the ability to glide at various altitudes be it thousands of feet above the ground or a mere two feet above it. A slow flying aircraft, Powered Paragliders allow passengers to take in the surrounding scenery at a calming pace, with each ride lasting up to a generous period of 10 to 15 minutes.

How it works

Powered paragliding or Paramotoring, is a type of ultralight aviation wherein the rider dawns a paramotor (motor) on their back, which assistsin the take-off,helped by an adapted paramotor or paraglider wing. Requiring no assistance whatsoever, Powered Paragliders can be launched on level ground as well as in still air by the pilot alone.
The paramotor weighs around 45 to 90 pounds, which is about 20 to 40 kilograms and needs to be supported by the pilot whilst taking-off. After a run of about 10 feet, the wing lifts the paramotor and the pilot into the air. Once air-borne, the pilot sits suspended underneaththe paraglider wing. The flight is controlled using the hand-held throttle and break toggles.
No License
In many countries, like the United States Of America for instance, powered paragliding requires no license to operate. Their ability to fly both slow and low safely, the ‘open-air’ feel, the minimal maintenance and equipment costs, and the flexibility and portability of the machine itself claimto be this sport’s greatest features.
